This time, I teamed up with friends for a short trip to Hangzhou Bay and choseEmpark Grand Hotel Hangzhou Bay Ningbo Cixi. Originally, I only wanted it to have a great reputation and complete facilities, but after staying there, I realized that its transportation and surrounding convenience were fully utilized - there was no need to cross cities or travel back and forth between scenic spots, and a lot of time was saved for leisurely strolling, eating, and watching the sea. The two-day trip directly gave me a sense of relaxation for four days.
The hotel is located at the core hub of Hangzhou Bay New Area, at No. 9 Jinyuan Avenue. Friends who come by car don't have to worry at all. Starting from Ningbo city, they can take the Shenhai Expressway and reach the hotel entrance in 40 minutes without taking any detours along the winding mountain roads. It's even more convenient to come from the city center of Cixi, with a 20 minute drive. Even if you're starting from Shanghai, taking the Hangzhou Bay Cross Sea Bridge takes 1.5 hours to get off the bridge and directly reach the hotel, without having to wander around on unfamiliar rural roads. The hotel comes with a large free parking lot for guests, so even if it is fully booked during holidays, there is no need to take half an hour to find a parking space, which is too friendly for self driving travelers.
Public transportation is also completely hassle free. There is a bus hub station in Hangzhou Bay New Area just 50 meters away from the entrance, with multiple routes covering the entire area and direct buses to various scenic spots. Get out of Cixi High speed Railway Station, take a bus and transfer to another line to get to the hotel in just one hour, without having to drag your luggage and expose yourself to the sun. If you want to travel across cities to nearby cities, you can take a taxi to the long-distance bus station in Hangzhou Bay New Area in 15 minutes. Flights to Ningbo, Jiaxing, and Shanghai are available all day, and the freedom of travel can be fully utilized.
The density of surrounding attractions exceeds expectations. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the Haipi Island Scenic Area in Hangzhou Bay, without having to wake up early to catch a shuttle bus. If you want to play water sports, just change your swimsuit and go downstairs. Take a 10 minute taxi directly to Hangzhou Bay National Wetland Park, which is the filming location of "The Promise of Migratory Birds". After watching the migratory birds, you can also catch the hotel's afternoon tea. It only takes 15 minutes by car to get to Fantawild Oriental Divine Painting Theme Park, without leaving two hours in advance. You can sleep in and enjoy all the activities without any delay. If you want to catch the sunset in Hangzhou Bay, you can take a taxi to the seaside viewing platform in 20 minutes. After watching the sunset, you can just catch the hotel's buffet dinner.
Within a 15 minute walk is the core business district of Hangzhou Bay New Area, with large shopping centers, chain supermarkets, and local specialty restaurants clustered together. If you want to eat Cixi's local Minghe rice cake and Hangzhou Bay seafood, you can find an old brand that has been in operation for more than ten years just by walking downstairs, without having to travel long distances to find internet famous stores. After strolling through the streets late at night, the 24-hour convenience stores and barbecue stalls on the roadside are all open, so you don't have to wait for an hour for takeout. You can just walk a few steps and enjoy a hot late night snack.
Having spent most of my time commuting across scenic spots while visiting Hangzhou Bay, I realized after this stay that choosing the right hotel with convenient transportation eliminates the need for a dense travel guide. Going downstairs, you can catch the fireworks of the new district, and when you go out, you can directly reach all popular attractions without rushing or crowding, leaving your vacation time completely to yourself. On the weekend, I brought my parents and children to Hangzhou Bay to play. I chose Empark Grand Hotel Hangzhou Bay Ningbo Cixi because it was close to the sea and had all the parent-child facilities. I didn't expect to include it in our family's short distance tour permanent list after staying there - it doesn't have the crowded feeling of many hotels around the scenic area, and everyone from the elderly to children can find a comfortable way to open it. After a two-day and one night trip, even the exhaustion of traveling was completely rubbed away.
It only takes forty minutes by car from downtown Ningbo to get there. The hotel is located at No. 9 Jinyuan Avenue, Hangzhou Bay New Area. As soon as we drove into the parking lot, we were amazed by the scale. There are super large free exclusive parking spaces for guests, so there is no need to wander around to find a vacant spot. The doorman came up from afar and took our luggage, smiling as he reminded us, 'There is a children's playground in the hotel, so children don't have to go out to bask in the sun.'. When checking in, the front desk knew that we had brought elderly and children, so they specially arranged a connected family room for us. They also gave us two free hot spring experience vouchers, saying, 'If you're tired from playing, go soak in it and feel comfortable all over.'.
The moment I pushed open the room door, I felt like I had made the right choice. The 40 plus square meter space was spacious and orderly, with warm toned lights falling on solid wood furniture, completely devoid of the damp and stuffy atmosphere commonly seen in seaside hotels. As soon as the children entered, they jumped onto the large sofa by the window and leaned on the glass to enjoy the distant view of Hangzhou Bay. The bedding is just right in terms of softness and hardness, and my parents are used to sleeping on hard beds without feeling any soreness in their waist. I specifically touched the crevices in the corners, but couldn't find any dust or water stains. It can be seen that the daily cleaning is done very solidly, which is very friendly to families with children.
The most surprising thing was that the whole family could find fun. The children directly plunged into the hotel's own super large children's playground, which included an ocean ball pool, a small slide, and a handicraft area. The staff took full care of it, and my parents and I didn't have to stare at it at all. We went to the chess and card room to play mahjong for two hours in peace. In the afternoon, we went to the tea room next to the multifunctional hall together, brewed a pot of local Cixi white tea, and chatted with the air conditioning. It was much more comfortable than crowded outside the scenic area. In the evening, we went to the hotel cafeteria to have a meal. There were a long row of seafood, local Cixi dishes, and children's favorite desserts. Even parents, such picky people, praised the Braised pork belly here for its delicious stew.
The next day, we leisurely went to the wetland park near the hotel. After returning, we went straight to experience the complimentary hot springs. The warm spring water soaked away the exhaustion of walking, and the children refused to come out to play in the children's pool. The most touching thing is the details of the service. I casually placed a children's fever reducing medicine in the room, and the cleaning lady saw it while cleaning. She quietly placed a warm cup of plain water next to it; Mom and Dad casually mentioned that they wanted to eat some light Congee. Within ten minutes, a bowl of hot millet porridge was delivered to the room.
Previously, when taking a family on short trips, I was always afraid of the elderly getting tired and children getting into trouble.
